Messing about on the river
23rd June 2009
On Tuesday 23 June, visitors to the Ford in Eynsford had the shock of their lives when the Scouts & Explorers arrived and began making mini rafts from broom handles & water carriers.
The Scouts & Explorers were left to design & build their own raft in just half an hour before they were allowed to test them in the River Darenth. They had to use their Scouting skills remembering which knots & lashings would make the strongest raft.
Once tested they had to choose a member of their team to sit on the raft to see if they would sink or swim! Results were mixed, but it was about having fun in a safe outdoor environment.
To round off the evening the teams had a tug of war through the ford which was hilarious to say the least.
Here is a gallery of photos from the evening.
