Explorer Scout gains Chief Scout Award
20th October 2009
Benedict Wood Explorer Scout at 1st Eynsford & Farningham Scout Group has been presented with his Chief Scouts Platinum Award by Kent Scouts Assistant County Commissioner for Explorer Scouts Paul Abel and Swanley Scouts District Explorer Scout Commissioner Trevor Eastley.
Also present were the Leaders and members of the 1st Eynsford & Farningham Scout Troop, as well as Benedict's parents and family to witness his great achievement.
To achieve the award, one of the highest an Explorer Scout can get, Benedict had to undertake challenges from learning a new skill, taking part in a physical activity, community service and a two day overnight expedition. In addition he took part in an International Scout camp and along with the rest of the Scout Group he worked towards the Environment Award.
Says Angela Field, Benedict's Scout Leader, "This a proud moment for Benedict and for the Scout Group. Benedict has worked hard on his Chief Scouts award and is a role model for the younger Scouts"
Bruce MucKelt, Group Scout Leader commented "This is a great achievement for Benedict and for the Group. I can't remember anyone else being awarded a Chief Scouts Platinmum Award during my time here at Eynsford. I have known Benedict from when he joined as a Cub Scout and he has always been keen and helpful. I wish Benedict well with his Diamond award"
